Museli is an uncooked oatmeal recipe featuring fresh fruit, nuts, and spices. Tastes great with milk or served over yogurt.Homemade museli. Lighter and fresher than granola. Add fresh fruit to make it extra good.

When I was in high school, my family hosted a foreign exchange student from Germany. A year after he went back, we visited him and his family in Bonn.

His mom was a wonderful cook and introduced us to some new flavor combinations.

One night she made a delicious pizza with sweet corn on top. One morning for breakfast, she made a wonderful cereal-type mixture of oats, nuts, fruit, and cinnamon called muesli.

What Is Muesli?

It had been years since I made this breakfast dish, and I had forgotten how tasty it is.

Museli is kind of like granola, but lighter. Granola clumps together. Generally, that is because there is a liquid and fat component making it stick together (like honey, maple syrup, coconut oil, etc.) Muesli is more free form, without all the fat and added sugar.

Another difference from granola: Museli is uncooked and features rolled oats, fresh fruit, nuts, and spices.

It’s very simple, but the flavors blend so well together. For me, this is the perfect breakfast: Healthy, hearty, delicious, and best of all, cheap!

You likely will have everything you need for this recipe already in your kitchen.

It is worth noting that this recipe is extremely adaptable. Feel free to use any combination of fruit and nuts that you happen to have on hand. Serve the muesli with a heaping spoonful of plain yogurt and enjoy.
