Gift Worthy: Chocolate Ganache Truffles Recipe
Make your own homemade chocolate truffles with this basic recipe that can be customized with different toppings and add-ins. The basic recipe here calls for just 2 ingredients.
These decadent chocolate ganache truffles make the perfect food gift any time of the year.
The best part? You only need two ingredients (chocolate and cream) plus toppings to make these beauties.
I recommend buying quality chocolate (like Ghirardelli or Guittard), since with only two ingredients, the taste chocolate will really shine through.

Chocolate Ganache Truffles
While I have seen ganache recipes that call for equal parts of chocolate and cream, I used roughly a 3:2 ratio for this batch. If you want to make a smaller or larger batch of truffles, just stick to the ratio. For example, if you're using 12 ounces of chocolate, use 8 ounces of cream. If you plan on making only a few truffles, use 6 ounces of chocolate to 4 ounces of cream.
Ingredients
- 12 ounce bag chocolate chips
- 8 ounces heavy whipping cream
Toppings ideas
- Chocolate sprinkles
- White chocolate drizzle
- Chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, peanuts, etc.)
- Sunflower seeds
- Candied orange peel
- Decorative sugar
- Coconut flakes
Instructions
- Pour cream into a large glass or metal mixing bowl. Fill a saucepan half way with water and place mixing bowl on top. Heat over medium heat until cream gets very warm. Add chocolate and mix until smooth. Transfer chocolate mixture to fridge and allow to cool for several hours to harden.
- Once chocolate mixture is solid, remove from fridge and scoop out by rounded teaspoonfuls. Roll into a ball shape between hands. Roll truffles in desired toppings. Keep chilled until ready to serve.
