The $10 Food Day: Banana Nutella “Ice Cream” Recipe
This banana-Nutella “ice cream” recipe is awesome for several reasons:
- It tastes great
- It’s quite healthy
- It only contains two ingredients: Nutella and bananas
And fewer ingredients means less money, which is why this recipe is a part of my second $10 Food Day series.
I should mention that this isn’t really an ice cream recipe, hence the quotes around “ice cream”. There is no actual cream in it. But cream will be the last thing on your mind when you take a bite of this deliciousness.
I’m all about healthy dessert recipes, especially ones that don’t taste like they’re healthy, per se. If you feel the same way, you should check out my Pinterest board devoted to healthy desserts:

The Cost
- Bananas (4) = $1.00
- Nutella (1/3 cup) = $.90
Total cost for four people = $1.90

Banana-Nutella Ice Cream
Top with chopped nuts, toasted coconut, chocolate chips or your favorite ice cream topping.
Ingredients
- 4 bananas
- 1/3 cup Nutella
Instructions
- Peel and cut each banana into four pieces. Freeze overnight or until solid.
- Place frozen bananas in a food processor and pulse about 20 times. The bananas will be broken down into small chunks. Add Nutella and continue pulsing until mixture is smooth. Place banana mixture in freezer until solid. Serve plain or with desired toppings.
I have seen this recipe floating around Pinterest too. I wondered how it would work. I will have to try this! And since it’s healthy, you can eat even more, right?!
It totally works – almost tastes like regular ice cream 🙂
Well, this is a winner! I always buy more bananas than we need so I can use them in smoothies and waffles. This is another great reason to buy even more bananas!
