What Are Salami Crackers?

Salami crackers are basically just fried slices of salami. When they’re pan-fried, they crisp up and become cracker-like.

If you’re having a hard time imagining what a salami cracker tastes like, think about pepperoni slices on top of a pizza. When the pizza gets just a bit overdone and the pepperoni on top crisps up – yeah. That’s it. It’s delicious.

On that note, you can make these using pepperoni as well. The crackers will be smaller, obviously, but just as tasty.

The Cost:

These crackers are as cheap as the salami they’re made out of.

I bought a package of Genoa salami from ALDI for $2.99. This is the starting point for a great appetizer spread, like the one pictured below.

Be sure to buy thin-sliced salami – the deli meat kind. Not the thick, coin-like salamis.

Salami Crackers

Yield: 20 crackers
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes

As an alternative to salami, use pepperoni slices. This makes for a smaller, bite-size cracker.

These crackers are low carb, paleo and Whole30 friendly! Look for nitrate-free salami.

Ingredients

  • Sliced genoa salami

Instructions

  1. Place salami slices in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Fry one or two salami slices at a time, about one minute on each side. Push down any bubbles that form with a fork to ensure a flat cracker.
  3. Place fried salami slices on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil. Allow to cool and serve.
